The Canon Eos Rebel series could possibly be the most popular SLR Camera series last ten years. The Digital Rebel Xti is the updated version the Digital Rebel XT. Priced at $ 899 with the kit lens, this model is Canon EOS tradition of offering excellent features Pro Camera at an entry price range.
Although the CMOS chip used by the XTi is the same physical size as the version of the XT, Canon piled over pixels in space to raise the resolution and improving the design of micro-lenses, the "eyes" of the CCD. The microlenses gather indirect light and focus it back on the sensor. XTi has also increased the size of the photosites themselves. (The photosites are tiny electrical diodes, which convert light into electrical charges. ) The result of this improved technology is an affordable device that has a sensitivity sufficient to render properly blacks and rich colors of low light. However, "adequate" is a subjective term. It bears mentioning that XTi noise measured and visible image is much worse than the CCD-based Nikon D80 for a given speed of ISO.
The CMOS chip in the XTi is now self-cleaning. Similarly for many other digital SLRs, the low-pass filter layer vibrates when the device powers on or off to shake dust from the sensor; addition, there is a coating antistatic filter that repels dust.
Unfortunately, as the Rebel XT, XTi lacks a spot meter, it only provides Center-weighted average, and central partial center-weighted metering. This amounts to a serious omission. As spots are essential in many situations where a subject is backlit. I had to move close to an object that stood before a light background, obtain a general counter reading his face before step back and compose the image. Even then, there have been some trial and error involved. The lack of spot metering could be one of the most critical gaps this camera.

Fortunately, CompactFlash cards are inexpensive these days, and I would advise a 1GB card as a good starter size. The Rebel XTi, supports Type I and II cards, including Microdrives. Buying a high speed CF card (50X or better) is a smart idea.
Overall, Canon Eos Rebel Xti is good and solid images in a decent variety of circumstances, particularly in moderate to high levels of brightness. This is a perfect camera for amateur photographers interested in using an affordable camera with few features Pro to improve their skills, taking good pictures, and leave you just a little hungry for more.
